Call for papers

Please note: the call for papers is now closed. Notification of acceptance will be given by 12 April.

The upcoming DARIAH Annual Event 2019 combines forms of encounter developed in prior meetings, such as Working Groups meetings, workshops organised by Working Groups and projects, and a Marketplace to exchange ideas around new research projects and infrastructural solutions with an open conference setting. This call for participation is subdivided into two streams:

  1. Meetings

  2. Papers/posters

For all contributions, a title and extended abstract (max. 1000 words) are to be submitted via the Submission page of this website. The extended abstracts will be published as a book of abstracts. Paper submissions may be accompanied by a poster. Organisers of meetings, and Working Groups are encouraged to also bring posters all to be presented in the DARIAH Marketplace Poster session. The deadline for all submissions is 15 March and notification of acceptance can be expected by 12 April.

Meetings (2-hour slots)

In this stream, we invite Working Groups to express their interest in hosting a Working Group meeting. Although these meetings typically deal with Working Group internal issues following a specific agenda, we aim to offer them on the programme as open meetings. Submissions should include a title, the names of the main organisers (e.g. the Working Group chairs), a brief description of the main topic of the meeting (e.g. state of the art around the Working Group’s main activities), a (preliminary) agenda, and a list of envisioned participants. In the submission process, please choose 'Working Group Meeting' as the main type and indicate in your abstract whether you wish to bring a poster for the Marketplace as well.

In addition, we call for workshop proposals which address the main conference topic of Humanities Data in more detail. The format of the workshops is open and depends on the nature and topic of the proposed meeting. Workshops may be proposed by Working Groups or DARIAH related projects, as well as researchers. Submissions should include a title, the names of the main organisers, an extended abstract outlining the structure of the workshop, and a list of speakers. In the submission process, please choose 'Workshop' as the main type and indicate in your abstract whether you wish to bring a poster for the DARIAH Marketplace Poster session as well.

Papers/posters

In the second stream, we invite researchers and research projects to present (ongoing) work that deals with the topic sketched on the Homepage in the broadest sense. From all submitted papers, the Programme Committee will select representatives of topics which will get the opportunity to present an ignite talk (3-5 min) at the plenum. All other accepted papers will be part of thematic sessions organised by the Programme Committee, and/or the DARIAH MArket Place Poster session. Submissions should include a title, the names of the authors and an extended abstract. In the submission process, please choose 'Paper' as the main type and indicate in your abstract whether you wish to bring a poster for the Marketplace as well. If you wish to present a poster only, choose the type 'Poster'.
